DriveForge formats, checks and repairs the USB drives and SD cards you plug into your Android phone. It is published by ByteHaven Studios LLC. This policy describes what the app does with your information. It is short because the app does very little with it.
The short version
DriveForge does not collect or share any user data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking. No operation in the app needs the network.
The drives you connect
DriveForge reaches a USB drive or card reader only after you allow it in Android's USB permission prompt, which Android shows for each device. It then reads and writes that drive only to do what you ask: format, erase, check, test, repair or browse it. Anything that erases data shows the drive's name and size and waits for you to confirm.
What DriveForge reads from a drive (its layout, file names when you browse it, test results) is used on your phone and is never uploaded. The drive's USB serial number is shown on screen so you can tell drives apart; it is never stored, logged or sent.
Network access
The app's own code makes no network requests. It contains no web client, no analytics or crash reporting SDK and no ad SDK.
- The manifest lists the
INTERNETandACCESS_NETWORK_STATEpermissions only because the Google Play Billing library adds them. DriveForge does not use them itself. - The only traffic that leaves the phone in connection with the app is Google Play Billing (for the optional Pro purchase) and Google Play In-App Review (if you choose to rate the app). Both are handled by the Google Play Store app, not by DriveForge.
Purchases and reviews
DriveForge Pro is an optional one-time purchase processed by Google Play. Your payment details are handled entirely by Google and are never seen by DriveForge or by ByteHaven Studios. The app only asks Google Play whether the Pro unlock is owned. Google's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
If you rate the app, Google Play shows its own review form and handles your rating and review. DriveForge does not receive them.
Permissions
- USB access: Android's per-device permission, granted by you for each drive.
DriveForge asks for no storage permission and does not request "all files access"
(
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). - Notifications, foreground service and wake lock: so a running format or test can show its progress and keep going while the screen is off.
- Billing (
com.android.vending.BILLING): so Google Play can process the Pro purchase. - Internet and network state: added by the Google Play Billing library, as described above.
What the app stores on your phone
Only two things, both in the app's private storage on your phone: your settings,
and a run history of what DriveForge did (the drive's name, its capacity, what
ran and when). No other app can read them, and none of it is sent anywhere. The app is excluded
from Android's automatic cloud backup (allowBackup="false").
You can clear the run history in Settings at any time. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android's settings, removes everything it stored.
Notifications
DriveForge uses notifications only to show the progress of a format or test that is running, with a Cancel button. It sends no other notifications.
When data leaves your device
Only when you send it. Share opens Android's share sheet with a link to the app's store page. Rate and More apps open Google Play or your browser. If you email us, we receive what you write.
Children
DriveForge is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Your rights
Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete. If you email us, we keep that conversation only to answer you, and you can ask us to delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at
https://driveforge.bytehavenstudios.com/privacy/ with a new effective date.
